Sunset in the forest

Every day I hear clients say that our work has truly transformed their lives ! They are no longer triggered by old patterns or beliefs, their confidence and happiness is greater than they have ever experienced.  Changes such as these are possible through a collaborative exploration of past and present issues in an atmosphere of safety, compassion and respect – respect for the individual and respect for the mind’s ability to heal.

Some people seek out a therapist for a specific issue and some are simply interested in personal growth. The particular therapy approach that is best for you is determined together (see Therapies Offered) after learning your history, your goals and what events have shaped your life.

My practice is primarily focused on working with adults and my area of specialization is in addressing issues rooted in childhood trauma and attachment (the relationships with caregivers from conception through adolescence) as well as current issues of trauma. Many problems including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, eating disorders and addictions, and complex post-traumatic stress disorders develop from wounding childhood or adulthood experiences even when on the surface, there may not appear to be such a connection.

While any of several therapy approaches may be used, the following approaches  are central to my work:  IFS (Internal Family Systems) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Both offer effective relief for those who have suffered sometimes for years from depression, anxiety, panic attacks, abuse recovery, addictions, phobias, poor self-image, distressing memories, nightmares, insomnia, etc. as a result of unmet developmental or attachments needs (in childhood or adulthood) or other traumatic events.

Neither of the approaches I utilize involve the use of drugs or hypnosis.  These  therapies offer relatively short-term, safe, non-invasive, collaborative approaches where healing can happen quickly and effectively.

Many people who have made slow progress in the past, or who have not benefited from more traditional therapies say that with these therapies they are finally enjoying the life they envisioned!  (Please see Client Comments Page)
